In the days before AntiAliasMan, there was no easy way to antialias text. In the days of AntiAliasMan 1.0, there was no easy way to antialias text without occasionally crashing, and no easy way at all in more than 256 colors. In the days of AntiAliasMan 1.3, there was no fast and easy way to antialias anything. For the six-odd people who had version 1.5, there was no easy and fast way to antialias anything but rounded rectangles. All of that has changed.
AntiAliasMan 2.0 with DitherMan who used to be DitherDog.
This latest version of AntiAliasMan has a new dithering engine, called DitherMan. It used to be called DitherDog, and you can stil call it that if you like. As a matter of fact, you can send me email at subtrouser@aol.com (not my primary address, please) about which you prefer. In any event, what used to take 750 ticks on my Macintosh IIvx, now takes 300 ticks. No, I did not get a PowerPC upgrade board; I reworked AntiAliasMan. DitherMan is so efficient, I only have to feed him twice a week.
DitherMan convinces AntiAliasMan to go native.
DitherMan has had a few words to say, and they included several about PowerPC nativity. He got AntiAliasMan on his side, so I had to do it: AntiAliasMan (and DitherMan) are now PowerPC native. Included is a MetroWerks 680x0 library, a MetroWerks PowerPC library, and a Symantec 680x0 library. If someone has Symantec C/C++ 8.0 for PowerPC and wants a free copy of the AntiAliasMan 2.0 with DitherMan source code, he or she should contact me at macpants@aol.com. I am interested in making AntiAliasMan 2.0 PowerPC native in Symantec format as well.
AntiAliasMan goes to the vet, gets bug collar.
Unfourtunately, AntiAliasMan has had a ferw bugs in the past. I finally became so fed up with them that I spent approximately three billion years getting them all. Deciding to keep the only pure thing in their puny C source code/library lives pure, DitherMan and AntiAliasMan have decided to stop charging their loyal customers. AntiAliasMan 2.0 is free, and, as of this release, so are all previous versions of AntiAliasMan. But please, mention me somewhere in your credits.
